Live Forever - Oasis 30th Anniversary Exhibition
If you happen to be in Tokyo for the next 3 weeks don't miss these two extraordinary Oasis exhibitions. Both were co-ordinated by the supremely talented Sony Music Japan team, before the Oasis reunion news, and therefore have an added poignancy. Featured in The New Gallery (https://newgallery-tokyo.com/oasisoriginreconstruction) is the results of a collaboration between photographer Jill Furmanovsky and artist Kosuke Kawamura. The results have been made into artworks skilfully made and constructed using a shredding machine. It will make you want to try re-assess this humble bit of office machinery anew!
As for the Roppongi Museum show (https://oasis-liveforever.jp/), it is simply unmissable. For starters it has an extraordinary sound track accessed through headphones, and features Noel Gallagher lyrics blown up to reflect his simple but profound messages, historic reconstructions of the Definitely Maybe room and even the Warwick Castle pub, a chance to 'be' Liam on a stage, and memorabilia for fans such as tour passes and magazine covers, as well as famous guitars, including the Union Jack version, original posters and more of Jill Furmanovsky's amazing photography at super sizes.
Be warned there is a swag shop at the end that is dangerously tempting.
