What are Limited Edition Prints?

Limited Edition Prints are unique artworks released in a set number by the photographer. Each print is signed and numbered, indicating its place within the edition. For example, a print marked as 17/50 means it is the 17th copy out of a total of 50.

What are Artist's Proofs?

Artist's Proofs are special prints that the photographer uses to check the color and quality before the limited edition prints are finalized. These proofs traditionally remain with the photographer, but nowadays they are often sold along with the Limited Edition Prints. Artist's Proofs are identical in print quality, color, and paper to the limited editions and are also signed and numbered by the photographer, usually with the mark A/P (Artist's Proof). Typically, only 10-15% of the total limited edition run is released as Artist's Proofs. For instance, if there are 50 prints in the limited edition, there might be around 5 Artist's Proofs.

What is an Open Edition?

An Open Edition refers to prints that are not limited in quantity. This type of edition allows the artwork to be reproduced indefinitely, making it more accessible to a broader audience. However, this typically means that the individual prints have less value compared to Limited Editions.

30/30/30 Collection

Jill Furmanovsky's founding edition for Rockarchive was published in 1998 to celebrate her 30 years as a rock photographer and contains some of her most celebrated images including her portrait of Charlie Watts, for which she won the “Jane Bown Portrait Award”.

Edition 30/30/30 consists of 30 black and white images, printed in the darkroom* from the original negative on museum quality, silver gelatin fibre paper, in an edition of just 30 (*please see notes below)

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Rockarchive, Jill also added 10 digital fine art prints of the images included in Edition 30/30/30. This enables customers to order extra large prints from this classic collection.

Prints are embossed with the distinctive Rockarchive logo, numbered from 1-30 and signed by Jill Furmanovsky. Certificates and care instructions are also included.

No further prints will be made to purchase of these classic images.

Notes to collectors:
* Pink Floyd's The Wall is a C-type print due to difficulties in printing this image in the darkroom,
*Jeff Buckley is a fibre lith print on Seagull paper because it looks great that way.
*Roger Daltrey of The Who is made from a 5x4 copy negative as the original was lost
